Bookgirl got to celebrate her birthday for a whole week. We had her party a week before her birthday so all the decorations stayed up until her actually birthday and we celebrated again as a family.
This was the first year since she turned 4 that Bookgirl had a traditional party with friends. Most years we let the birthday child pick some place they want us all to go for their birthday. Then we come back and do dinner, cake, and presents, and sometimes we will invite a friend or a family to join us for that part. Inviting 6 friends over for a party this year was unique for her. She had so much fun helping me plan it and counted down the days! The party was called Icing Fun Party. Wilton, is a company that makes cake decorating supplies, and they have a pdf on their site on how to do a basic decorating workshop for kids. We just took that and turned it into a party!! We think the girls all had a great time and their treats they made were very cute - and tasty of course!
Her main present from us was a new bike. She got to pick it out herself. Her brothers gave her some magnetic dolls she's wanted for about a year and of course some silly bandz. Grammy made her all sorts of things, including the adorable doll you'll see in the picture. Uncle David works for a high-end clothing line, so he and Aunt Chris sent her some more great clothes that she LOVES. Grandma and Grandpa suprised her with the miniAmerican Girl doll that she was saving to buy for herself :) Her friends gave her lots of books and craft stuff - which of course made Bookgirl extremely happy. She was even given 2 different bookstore gift cards...more books!
For her birthday dinner she chose to go the Japanese Steakhouse we never made it to last year when we studied Japan. It was alot of fun, and great food. Then I suprised her with her cake. The look on her face is why I love making their cakes.
On Sunday for church she wore one of her new dresses to church and brought Dolly with her.
Happy 9th birthday Bookgirl. I am amazed that you are nine and am blessed that you are my daughter.

Happy Birthday, Bookgirl! :) I looks and sounds like it was a wonderful celebration. The handmade doll is adorable, and a mini American Girl doll, as well? That would have been my idea of a perfect day!
The cake is darling and the party looks like a ton of fun and I am certain a good time must have been had by all!
Need I mention, once again, that Bookgirl is so beautiful, and looking very old. 9 years flies by, doesn't it?
Oh, one more thing ... it seems as though ALL the kids enjoyed the Japanese Steakhouse!

Um...I hate to say this, but WOW, she's looking less like BookGirl and more like BookYoungLady. Her little girl face is changing. sniff sniff.
