G'date Mates!
Last summer Bookgirl and Mathboy attended an Outback themed VBS. They remember alot of the basic things from that and so they were very excited about studying Australia. We were blessed with a ton of hands-on stuff because Miss Marty, one of Grammy's friends, recently took a trip there. She lent us a bin FULL of pictures, videos, tour maps, soaps, vegamite, and even sheep's wool she had sheared!! For the record, the soap smelled great, and the sheep's wool smelled aweful! Probably our favorite thing was all the videos about the Great Barrier Reef. We watched two from Miss Marty's box, and one that I got from the library. Bookgirl and Mathboy both really enjoyed studying all the sea life that lives in the reef.
For art we created art in the style of aboriginal paintings.
We finished up Bookgirl's Mathbook (Singpore 4a) and her Igniting Your Writing book this week. For the next two weeks we'll do problems out of the Extra Practice book in fractions and geometry (the two things she struggled with this year).
We took a Friday off and met some friends from church at a new park. It was Baby New Years first time wearing real shoes.
Put on your winter coats, because our next stop is Antartctica!
